Lenovo Philippines officially reveals their very first gaming smartphone dubbed as the Legion Phone Duel, a contender in the niche high-end gaming phone market!

The Legion Phone Duel is packed with a big punch with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus and Qualcomm Adreno 650 chipset, which only a handful of devices use for the best of performances as well as 5G support in selected markets. But that’s not all, Lenovo made sure the phone also comes with a 144Hz AMOLED display, solid 5000mAh battery, and never before seen side-mounted camera for various use cases, most notably streaming your face within the device itself!

Seeing that the phone’s display is at a reasonably large but comfortable size of 6.65 inches, boasting 2340 by 1080 resolution with 144Hz and AMOLED, you should have no problem tapping precisely for both your everyday and gaming needs. Also further enhanced by the 240Hz touch sampling rate should make your inputs impressively responsive for the most dire of situations.

And to boost power efficiency, you can get up to 16GB of LPDDR5 high capacity RAM and of up to 512GBs of storage.

Dual Technology Architecture

Despite being named the Legion Phone Duel, it actually has the Duality of many features and there’s a good reason why.

The phone has dual batteries, in which they are located on the top and bottom part of the phone so when used horizontally, they’re effectively at the sides — isolating the logic board — preventing the hands to be overwhelmed by the phone being too warm hold for extended gaming sessions. But even if you’re on a gaming marathon, the phone uses dual-liquid heat pipes, graphite sheets, and copper foils to ensure that the phone never overheats.

Equipped with dual Type-C charging ports, you can use either the side port or the standard bottom port with the bundled 65W charger, but using both gives you the fastest charging speeds turboing from 0% to 100% in 34 minutes (or 0% to 60% in 15 minutes).

Dual Shoulder Control

And for heavy gamers, the device includes dual shoulder controls that are ultrasonic trigger buttons that come with dual haptics that provide life-like feedback for better immersion in games. These triggers feel like actual physical buttons during use and the haptic feedback or pressure level sensitivity can be changed to one’s personal tastes.

The exact words of the press release says, “You can activate a continuous burst of fire (up to 10 firing shots per second) by long-pressing the triggers. A gyroscope sensor allows you to change your in-game view whenever you rotate the phone on its horizontal axis, bringing you deeper into the gameplay.” As an example on the usage of these triggers.

Blasting from the dual front-facing speakersthat were made possible by Dirac Audio technology — can deliver precise audio cues amidst chaos in-game, so you can hear and react faster to the enemies that could’ve been sneaking your rear all this time. The speakers include large 1.4cc acoustics chambers for distant reaching sound quality, turning the volume up could result in a 3D-like sound field.

Dual livestreaming is made possible and easier with the aforementioned 20MP side pop-up camera, it only takes half a second to be emerged or retracted. By using the pop-up camera, you’re able to broadcast your gameplay, voice, and face all within the device itself (with most streaming apps); no external hardware or software is required which removes the hassle of setting up various devices just to start livestreaming. There’s also four noise-cancelling microphones that can record your audio from all around to allow easy recording at esports events or even a noisy but friendly gathering.

Dual Haptics

You’re also able to remove your background using AI via the selfie editor featuring many filters and correction options, in which the AI can detect up to a “hair-level.” This removes the stress of setting up a green screen or other various methods to remove background clutter.

The dual rear camera, on the other hand, is a 64MP and ultrawide 16MP camera respectively, these can capture stunning images whilst also being able to record at 4K resolution with 30FPS.

UI Optimization

The phone has a specially customized interface that maximizes the landscape orientation so you don’t have to rotate back and forth to portrait mode to deal with notifications and be distracted from your gameplay.

Legion Realm is the phone’s central dashboard where gamers can tweak hardware performance settings, scroll through your downloaded games, and select the enabled network that gives you the best connectivity in that moment – WLAN, 5G, or Wi-Fi 6.

With the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel, as soon your gaming session ends, you can review all the gaming highlights via a preview screen. Then, you can select and merge recorded clips together before sharing with your team mates.

If you have just scored a massive win but forgot to hit “Record,” just use a finger to slide your right ultrasonic trigger key to the left. The phone will replay those moments captured automatically in the background so you can “reverse-record” that scene for posterity.

You can also tweak the RGB lighting on the “Y” Legion logo at the rear of the phone so you can be informed of notifications such as messages and charging status.

Finally, if you want the large screen gaming experience, just connect the phone to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse with a USB-C dock.
